Amazing progress Eugine! Coming along nicely! The motion blurs were really well done, a lot of camera pans on still shots do look a bit odd, I don't know how you would achieve a 'boil' in stop motion but it could be worth an attempt to see whether it looks a bit less 'static'

My other advice is to make a 'clean plate' for each shot, this is where you stage the shot, without the characters so you can use it as a background in post (useful for deleting the bluetac in areas where you don't want it visible.

Eugine1a2b responds:

Thank you! Yeah I did have some trouble with the stills but I'll experiment with finding ways to boil. And yes, a clean plate seems like a perfect idea!

They killed Kolani! Those bastards!!

Owen responds:

RIP Kolani

I know I gave a little feedback the other day but I really wanted to write a full review out of respect for how great this is and how much work you put into it.

Knowing that you're planning on potentially continuing it I wanted to put in my personal opinions on stuff. I get the video game voice thing is what you're going for but I found it cut into my ability to hear the notes. Could be a volume control issue or could be the spacing. Maybe look into ways to harmonize the repetitive voice with the backtrack. So the still make the same sounds it's just songlike.

I mentioned how I found the staging was flat, and there were opportunities for good cutaways or 'cutscenes' that ties in with the same game formula. Your FX and Character design were on point. I REALLY like the villain and his vehicle. It's a super cool design that I could almost see as a toy or something.

I think over all you could get some more appeal with very little effort. Like small background loops to just add a little extra motion repeating assets so it's not a massive undertaking. I am interested to see whether you stick with the current 'ui' or not but looking forward to episode 2!

PS: that guitar lightning was freaking sweet

EDIT: So I realized you did do the background loop stuff, I think it mostly got overshadowed by the text boxes, so maybe take that into consideration with where you put effort on loops. (like animate around the text boxes so your work doesnt get obscured.

Joe-Mega responds:

This is definitely the most useful criticism I've received so far, and I really appreciate it. I have an Idea for the voices that I think will solve the problems people have with them... either that or I'll piss everyone off even worse XD I guess I'll just have to see if people like it or not.

Im definitely gonna try and put more life and movement into the backgrounds.

And as for little cutscenes, I think that's a rad idea! Now I just gotta try and actually make some that look nice XD

Thank you so much for the feedback, it really means a lot.

90% of this was gameplay clips this doesnt really seem to be creative content. Your description is nothing but shilling? At least try and be a little more creative with your editing and transitions. Basic wipes make me genuinely wonder if you spent more than an hour on this. I hope you do a bit more with your future uploads. Good luck.

SchmidtTimes responds:

Oh, man, you think this only took an hour? Your ignorance to the process bums me out, buddy. I log my hours when I work on these passion projects, and it'll surprise you to know between cleaning assets, prepping footage and all the nuance that goes into production, I actually clocked in just shy of eight hours editing. It's fine if you don't appreciate my work, but I'm not too keen on your disrespect. Be better.

I wont rehash on what some of the other reviewers have said about the title cards and other things. What I want to suggest is using boils to hide the tweens you use. They are a bit distracting. The two shots that stuck out were the character walking into shot and the finger that was constantly extending. I think if you were more creative in 'hiding' these tweens using frame based boils it would really add to the flow and would definitely fit in with the grotesque style I think you're going for! :) Excited to see what you do next

Kutaykomiks responds:

Thank you for pointing it out, I will definitely use boiling in my future projects!

This is crazily ambitious in scope for a first frame by frame animation. You attempted nearly just about everything. Looking forward to more animation in the future.

Dragonsongarts responds:

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS NICE COMMENT! I hope you all continue to like the things I make!
